Finding the right piece of jewelry is the key to any look, and not just because earrings, bracelets, necklaces and rings add enough splash, enough color, enough drama to complete your look with minimal effort. "The right piece of jewelry" has to come at the right price too, since most of us can't spend frivolously on expensive, one-use pieces. There is a way to perfect any look without spending a lot and with a keen eye for style and deals, I've compiled the most current bargains on jewelry.
If you love pretty and whimsical jewelry, here is a deal for you. Erickson Beamon for Target Rose & Chain Earrings were $19.99 and have now been marked down to just $6.98 at Target! These fishhook-backed earrings have an intricate look about them with the delicate resin flower designs and the dainty detailing underneath the flowers. They have to sides: one part edgy, rocker chic and one part bombshell glam. These fabulous earrings really make the statement on dressy and casual looks.
Another design I liked by the Erickson Beamon for Target line was the Jeweled Charm Bracelet, originally $29.99 and now 50% off at just $14.98. This trendy metal bracelet in dramatic black and goldtone epitomizes the unique edge of the acclaimed Erickson Beamon jewelry design duo. A modern twist on the classic charm bracelet, it features features multiple strands of chains with beads and charms - including a telephone and a tennis racquet! This totally fun bracelet adds a nice dose of whimsy to any outfit.
For a glamorous cocktail ring that everyone will be staring at, I loved the Sea Urchin Ring from Banana Republic which features 4K gold plated "spines" accented with rhinestones at the ends. Now 49% off and priced at just $19.99, this ring makes such a bold statement all on its own that you might just want to keep the rest of your jewelry and accessories to a minimum.
If you need a pair of earrings that may look like they cost a fortune, you'll like the Sterling Silver Italian Textured Hoop Earrings from Overstock.com, made from sterling silver and featuring a unique diamond-cut textured pattern. Unbelievably, these medium-sized hoop earrings are just $11.99 or 40% off! Great for a dressy evening out, these earrings are a fabulous find for women who don't want to pay a lot - just want to look like they did!
And if you're looking for a really nice gift for yourself, Walmart's 1/2 Carat T.W. Diamond Sterling Silver Bracelet is the gift to splurge on - and even at $55.00, it's a fraction of what department store jewelry costs! Originally $79.00, this bracelet is about 7.5 inches long and features the diamonds in a prong-like setting. This glamorous bracelet will be the envy of your friends. Okay, so maybe this isn't really a splurge - but you should still spoil yourself with this bauble.
Don't forget: jewelry is also a great way to try a trend that you’re a bit dubious of
because it doesn't overwhelm the whole
outfit but contributes to the overall look. It really doesn't matter what the piece is as long as you love
it.

Unless you've been living under a rock, you're familiar with the fancy schmancy department store Neiman Marcus. And unless that rock was on another planet, you'll also likely know the store by its affectionate nickname "Needless Markup".
No? Well, here's a little legend Lulu came by that not only does justice to the nickname but spreads a little love of my favorite kind. Yes, I'm talking the baked variety. Cookies to be exact.
This story is one for all us die-hard thrifty types because it turns our protagonist from zero to hero and goes to show that just when you think all financial sense in the world is lost, there's always a smart way to get back some control.
Even when it's just through a little (debatable) cookie revenge.
Let me explain.
A few months ago (so the legend goes), a woman very much like you or me was shopping with her daughter in the Dallas branch of Neiman Marcus. They visited the coffee shop for a snack and decided to try the "Neiman Marcus cookie".
It was, apparently, a treat of such exquisite delectation that this lady asked for the recipe. With a frown, the waitress replied, "You can't have it but you can buy the recipe. It's only two-fifty. It's a great deal". The lady requested the two-fifty be added to her bill and left with the recipe.
She got her Visa statement 30 days later and to her horror found a Neiman Marcus charge of $285. At the bottom of the statement it said, "Cookie Recipe - $250." After picking her jaw up off the floor, our friend did what any of us would do. She called Customer Service to demand a refund. After all, how could any reasonable person think that a "two-fifty" quote on a cookie recipe meant parting with the budget of a small African nation?
Transferred to Accounting, she was told in no uncertain terms that she could forget a refund since she'd already seen the recipe. No amount of threats of legal action would budge the crazy stance of the Needless Markup number crunchers and our victim was apparently told what she could try her appeals with the Better Business Bureau or the Texas Attorney General's office. "Do what you want," she was allegedly told, "but don't bother trying to get your money back."
It seems Neiman's didn't reckon on their $250 cookie recipe making the rounds on the Internet, which was our friend's best revenge. And if you haven't seen it already, my thrifty friends, I've included this oh-so-pricey recipe below. Quite possibly the "World's Most Expensive Cookie Recipe" is proudly presented to you here - with attitude and a double-finger snap at all those establishments virtual or otherwise that have ever taken us for a ride.
What's that? Do I hear murmurs of dissent among the ranks? You don't believe the story? Well, you're not the first. There are those out there who shall remain nameless (but it's a big fancy store that starts with a "Knee" and ends with a "Cuss") who agree that this story cannot possibly be true.
They even point to similar legends in consumer history that sound remarkably alike as proof of the so-called hoax but I for one, am with the believers. And true or not, didn't this story give you a warm fuzzy glow of how good it could feel to get one over the markup profiteers? Didn't it inspire you to not take no for an answer next time you feel like you've been wronged in a purchase?
My advice: swallow your disbelief down with a bite of one of these delicious cookies. They're remarkably tasty at any price.
"The Neiman Marcus Cookie" (makes tons)
1 cup butter
1 ½ cups chocolate chips
2 cups flour
1 cups brown sugar
1 tsps bicarbonate of soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cups white sugar
1½ cups grated chocolate
2½ cups oatmeal
2 eggs
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup chopped nuts
Blend oatmeal to a fine powder.
Cream butter and both sugars and add eggs and vanilla.
Fold in flour, oatmeal, salt, baking powder and bicarbonate of soda.
Add chocolate and nuts.
Roll into balls and place two inches apart on a greased cookie sheet.
Bake for 10 minutes at 375.
Enjoy!

This is the time to take note of the current summer clearance sales, where everything from clothes to accessories is heavily discounted. Scouting for the best deals on a daily basis has taught me on thing: you’ve got to take advantage of these deals now because they won’t last long. Now is also the time to stock up on summer essentials like summer camisoles and tanks, classic pairs of shorts, and lightweight summer dresses (see my previous post for that!). To get you started, I am listing some of the best deals for summer apparel on CheapToday.
Short shorts are cute but Bermuda shorts are much more flattering, plus you can wear these regardless of your age. My favorite? Gloria Vanderbilt Verona Plaid Bermuda Shorts at Kohl’s. Once $36.00, these stylish blue plaid shorts are now on clearance for $23.40. These shorts are so versatile that you can wear them with a polo, henley or a simple tee shirt. If you’re looking for shorts with a more casual style, check out these Tie-Dye Drawstring Shorts which are now just 50% off at Calvin Klein. Originally $48.00, they're now just $24.00! These trendy little shorts feature an allover tie-dye print and are fun shorts that will look just fab with a tube top or halter blouse.
Silk is one material that can be worn all four seasons, and the Silk Tank Top at Victoria’s Secret is a perfect example of ideal summer silk. This ribbed tank comes in three fun summer shades: pink petal, moon mist and black. Right now, it's only $16.99 (originally $38.00)! Wear this beautifully casual top with jeans, shorts or skirts. Wear it under a blazer for work or wear it with a maxi-length skirt for a hot date. This Silk Tank Top has endless possibilities style-wise.
Another fabulous tank top is the Icon by Marika Organic Botanical Tank Top, which is now just $8.04 at Target (originally $22.99). It's a cute scoopneck tank made with 100% cotton so it's a breathable yet stylish choice for your workout. It also features a beautiful rosebud print. While this top is ideal for exercising, it would look simple and cute with linen or khaki pants for a weekend look.
Wedge sandals are so much fun, and these Nine West Rusty Wedge Sandals from Piperlime (originally $89.00 and now just $49.99) are beyond stylish. These leather sandals have a four-inch wedge and feature braiding at the vamp plus double buckle straps. They're available in three colors: black, medium blue and dark brown. You can even wear these sandals into early fall with cropped jeans and a cardigan.
And remember to keep checking CheapToday for the best deals every day.

At CheapToday, the summer of 2009 will be remembered as the summer of the dress: we’ve seen so many stylish and pretty dresses! Long maxi dresses, brightly colored sundresses and graphic or exotic print dresses were just a few of the styles that we found and shared with you. Since summer is almost over, I wanted to dedicate a post to some of the best deals on summer’s hottest dresses - find your favorite dress deal and buy before the summer is over! Check out the sampling below for fabulous finds.
One trend we cannot get enough of is the printed dress and it was tough to pick just two of our favorite styles. This INC Printed T-Back Dress is now on sale for $39.99 at Macy's and originally sold for $79.00. This dress has a brown and white exotic print, a scoopneck with stud detailing and a unique t-back. This casual dress still manages to look put together, plus it's extremely comfortable since it was made from a polyester/spandex blend. This dress is anything but simple and you will enjoy wearing it as well as the 50% off price. Here is another lovely dress that works with almost any occasion: the Dot Print Sheath Dress is a classic dress with a modern geometric print. Currently 50% off at Calvin Klein (originally $148.00, now just $74.00), this knee-length blue cotton dress features pleated shoulders, a v-neck, wrap-style front and attached belt. And unlike a lot of summer dresses, you can actually wear this to work.
For a more casual dress, the relaxed C & C California Organic Tank Dress is ideal. Made of 100% organic cotton, this tank-style dress has pleating on the sides of the empire waist for a fun effect. It also has attached ties on the side. This dress is available at Overstock.com in two colors of black and orchid. The Organic Tank Dress is now 48% off at $42.99, marked down from the original price of $83.00. This summer dress has just enough color, so you'll want to stick with more neutral colored accessories like brown flats and white handbags. I love the summer look of this dress.
White lacy cotton dresses are usually what come to mind when we think of summer dresses and Free People’s Gingham and Lace Dress (shown) is that ideal summer style. Made with 100% cotton, this fully lined woven gauze dress has a gingham print, lace crochet insets and halter ties in the back. Available in white or blue, this dress creates such a simple, breezy look for the summer. It's now on sale at Free People for only $99.95 (originally $168.00). As a bonus, this dress has good reviews for its fit and styling. You'll want to buy your own Gingham Lace Dress soon before they sell out quick- actually that applies to all these fabulous summer dresses.

Accessories can make or break your entire look, which is why it's so important to find the right accessories. It doesn't matter so much if they match by color or style; what matters is that your accessories work with the outfit as a whole. More often than not, that means we reach for neutral-colored shoes, classic handbags and simple jewelry. While it's a fabulous thing to find that one standout piece, it's usually the basic staples we use time and time again because they're entirely reliable. If you're in need of some new accessories for less, you're in luck because we have quite a few smashing deals to share with our readers.
Do you ever wish you could buy an accessory that has several uses? The Dana Buchman Convertible Clutch is one item that works both as a clutch and a tote bag, and it's only $19.80 at Kohl's right now! Considering that the bag was originally $66.00, that is one heck of a deal, especially since you can use this as two separate purses. Use it as a clutch or unfold it to become a roomy tote bag - it's really two bags in one. This bag also has plenty of storage pockets, clutch handles and removable shoulder straps, giving you on-the-go convenience. This Dana Buchman bag comes in two classic colors (black or white) so it goes with virtually everything.
Of course, there's nothing wrong with a bold-colored bag...just as long as it has a simple shape, like this one from Rampage (shown). The yellow Misty Tote is an animal-friendly patent ostrich tote bag that features silver toggle hardware, double chain shoulder straps and a footed bottom. Now just $58.80, you save 40% off its original $98.99 price. This bag is large enough to use as an everyday handbag and also comes in a pretty shade of blue.
A delicate necklace always looks fab and this Silver-Tone Link Long Necklace by Simply Vera Vera Wang is a perfect example. It's now on sale at Kohl's for only $12.80 (originally $32.00, saving you $19.20)! This thirty-six inch long necklace has a silver-tone shine, blue beads and an interlocking link design. This trendy piece of jewelry is still a classic that could complete any outfit whether its casual or dressy. A necklace like this is a great deal - I highly doubt it will last long so hurry to Kohl's!
Platform sandals may seem trendy to some but not the Crisscross Platform Slingbacks from Spiegel, which are now $17.99 (down from $49.99). These leather sandals have a crisscrossed vamp, buckled slingback strap, one-inch platform and a thick wood heel of about four and a half inch. These shoes come in espresso brown or black. Everyone needs a good pair of fun sandals like these!

There are two types of shoppers in the world: those who shop for indulgences and those who shop with a keen eye for bargains. The shoppers who seek the finer things in life usually look for the best quality and aren’t afraid to pay full price for it. It's barely August and already stores are bringing out the fall clothes, shoes, bags, accessories and more. Fall wardrobes are often filled with rich materials and colors that go straight to the top of our "to buy" lists. Unfortunately, new seasons means full price fashions and while we may pine for all of them, it will be a while before we'll find a lot of rock-bottom fall fashion deals. But in the meantime, you can find some real savings on fabulous garments and accessories that will take you straight into the fall.
Here's a real classic: the trenchcoat. A simple coat style that keeps coming back in vogue, most trenchcoats can go with a whole bunch of different looks including jeans and a little black dress. You can buy a stylish Calvin Klein Contrasting Trenchcoat for only $84.00 (the original price was $168.00 at Calvin Klein, saving you 50%). This coat is a light shade of gray with a subtle herringbone pattern and contrast stitching. It also has 3/4 sleeves and toggle closure buttons. This is a real bargain on a fabulous coat.
Fall and winter runways are often inundated with rich, luxurious materials like leather, mohair and crocodile skins. While these are incredibly beautiful materials they are very expensive, we don't expect to see sales on these kinds of items for at least a few months. But the good news is that faux leathers and skins are very trendy, which means you will find plenty of these pieces on the cheap, like the Apt 9 Faux Crocodile Clutch at Kohl's. This glamour girl clutch comes in two bold shades of purple or peony. It has a storage compartment, id card holder, durable metal frame and pop lock closure for easy opening and closing. Best of all, it's only $13.60 (originally $34.00, you save $20.40).
Is this a cardigan or a poncho? The Mossimo Black LS Open Wrap Cardigan can be both. It's available at Target for only $8.74 (65% off the original price $24.99). What I love about the sweater is the way it can take your casual look and turn it into something that appears more put together. This beautiful wrap cardigan is made of 100% rayon and comes in only one color (ebony) and like everything else in this post, it goes with almost everything.
Finding the perfect pair of jeans for work can be a challenge but Rampage has the ultimate pair that works for both work and casual. The Career Denim Pant is now 55% off for only $22.95 (originally $49.00). These fabulous jeans are a dark wash bootcut pair that works for your job AND nights out on the town. But's that not all I found at Rampage: their current clearance is chock-full of fabulous finds from sexy blouses to trendy blazers to lingerie up to 40% off or more.
