Fall Accessories for Less
By Anna Peel    Tuesday, September 29, 2009, 05:55 AM    Category:   Deal Gossip

This season is all about the extras! I'm talking about jewelry, hats, shoes and all the other little accessories that we put so much thought into when it comes to perfecting a look. After all, no outfit is complete without the right accessories. No matter what look you’re going for this fall, it can always be enhanced by a few perfect accessories. Let's take a look at this fall’s key looks and some fabulous extras to go with them. And the best thing about it? Everything listed here is on sale!

Bohemian: You love long printed dresses, feminine blouses and intricately-designed jewelry. Your style icons include Mary-Kate Olsen and Sienna Miller. The key look for this fall includes a bright and beautiful scarf like this Lightweight Tassel Scarf (originally $34.50 and now on sale for $19.99) from Gap. This cotton/silk/viscose-blend scarf features solid trim with tassels around the edges and looks great wrapped around the waist or tied loosely on the neck. Another good accessory is the Layered Paillette and Bead Necklace from Express (originally $26.50, it's now just $7.99). This bead necklace looks great with maxi dresses and delicate print blouses.

Classic: You know what you like and you stick with it. You're usually found in neutral shades with minimal jewelry, and you love comfortable footwear. The star you can relate to style-wise is Kate Winslet for her clean and effortless sense of fashion. This fall, make sure you own at least one pair of simple black flats like these Bottrop Flats from Aldo (originally $60, these shoes are now $33.74).  And why not buy yourself a basic handbag in an elegant color like red? This Caelyn Small Tote Bag from Calvin Klein is on sale for $64.00- when the original sale price was $128.00. Building a wardrobe of classic neutrals around one bold pattern or color is a terrific way to make good use out of trendy accessories.

Glamorous: You love all thing luxurious and pay close attention to what Scarlett Johansson is wearing at the moment. Your closet is probably filled with silk and cashmere so you’ll want to make sure that your accessories are up to par. Buy yourself some delicate silver earrings like the Sterling Silver Spiral Corkscrew Earrings from Carson Pirie Scott (originally $30.00,  these sexy earring were reduced to just $12.00). And why not purchase some shoes to wow your next date? These Brande Patent  Platforms are now on sale at Steve Madden (originally $99.95, these sandals were marked down to $55.97).

Athletic Apparel Deals
By Anna Peel    Thursday, September 24, 2009, 06:02 AM    Category:   Deal Gossip

Athletic apparel has come a long way from the 1980s. What was thought to be fashionable back then is considered rather tacky today. Legwarmers, unitards and sweatbands should best be left in the fashion history books. The 2000s are all about cute, casual and comfortable workout gear like athletic tanks and tees, tracksuits, spandex capris and other fashionable finds made for hiking, biking, yoga and pilates. Here are just a few notable deals on modern athletic apparel for women.

Juicy Couture may have practically invented the posh tracksuit but there are many affordable imitations out there, like this one from Walmart. The Danskin Now Velour Zip Hoodie & Jacket Bundle sells for just $18.00! This stylish set includes a zip-front hooded sweatshirt and stretch sweatpants - both of which were made with velour, which feels quite luxurious. You can also wear this tracksuit on casual weekends and even mix the separates with the other pieces you own. Like wearing the hoodie over a camisole and denim skirt. Or try pairing the sweatpants with a polo tee or Henley top. An entire outfit for $18.00 is a deal!

Despite their emergence twenty-something years ago, leggings are still quite trendy this season - and for good reason. You can wear leggings while jogging, hiking or at the gym. These Carve Long Beach Leggings were originally $34.00 at REI, and now they are on sale for just $18.93. These leggings are quite comfy thanks to hemmed cuffs, elastic waistband and flatlock seams. These leggings are also a perfect edition to your fall wardrobe as they look beyond fashionable underneath skirts and dresses.

Since fall has officially arrived, warmer jackets are de riguer for everyone. But for those who jog, bike or hike outside, you’ll need a jacket made for both exercise and cold weather. JC Penney’s Columbia Three Rivers Fleece Jacket is now on sale for just $29.99 (originally $45.00). This polyester fleece jacket features cozy pockets to keep your hands warm, a zipper front and elastic cuffs.  You can also choose from a variety of colors including white, red, grey, brown and more. This jacket should keep you warm even through winter workouts spent outdoors.

For those who can't buy enough fabulous hooded sweatshirts, here is a great deal at Target. This Merona Short-Sleeve Hoodie is a real steal since its only $4.99 (originally $19.99). This mango-colored hooded sweatshirt features a pretty screen print, short sleeves, drawstring hood, kangaroo pocket and ribbed cuffs. This cute little sweatshirt looks great wherever you are, whether you’re jogging or shopping. You can also wear this with denim skirts or even over a dress.

From the Victoria’s Secret Ultimate Tees collection is the Ultimate Tank, which is now on sale for $8.99 (originally $18.50).  This super-comfy stretch tank was made with cotton and spandex to keep you cool throughout your workout. Wear this with some cute leggings for your next yoga class. And with this great price, make sure you stock up on these versatile staples!  You can wear this tank with pretty much everything.

Five Fabulous Autumn Skirt Finds
By Anna Peel    Tuesday, September 22, 2009, 04:51 AM    Category:   Deal Gossip

Skirts are always in style, but fall/winter skirts always seem to be a bit more luxurious than the spring/summer styles - maybe it’s the rich textures of the materials or the deep colors/prints. This is the season to shop for skirts as there are so many to choose from: long skirts, pencil skirt, pleated skirts, denim skirts...and that's just skimming the surface. Even better are the many ways you can wear them! Try layering a fabulous short skirt with leggings or tights for a modern twist, or pair a long skirt with a dainty camisole and cropped cardigan sweater. To  help you find the perfect skirt, here's a list of five fabulous skirts that are currently on sale.

Marmot Rosa Cargo Skirt from REI (originally $58.00, now $16.83)
A casual skirt like this is simple enough to wear in a variety of ways but this cargo skirt also has a bit of edge. This dark khaki-colored skirt was made from 100% organic cotton and features two pockets in the front, one side cargo pocket and a front vent. Wear this skirt with a cute polo tee, camisole or even a sweater. This casual cargo skirt will surely be a favorite to wear this autumn.

Exploded Floral Silk Skirt from Calvin Klein (originally $118, now $35.40).
A pretty floral print skirt always looks festive no matter what the occasion is. This skirt features a classic black and white floral print yet keeps the look up-to-date with a banded waistline and vertical pleats. This silk skirt is also fully lined for extra modesty.  Wear this skirt with a button down blouse and heels.

Fine-Wale Cord Skirt from Old Navy (originally $24.50, now $15.00).
This fabulous fine-wale corduroy skirt is a real find for only $15.00!  You can wear this fall essential with tees, tanks and hooded sweatshirts. This trendy enzyme-washed skirt features back patch pockets and slit, front scoop pockets, tonal topstitching and button detailing. It also comes in some fabulous seasonal shades including khaki, bitter chocolate, wise owl and pine needles.

Tweed Long Skirt from Victoria’s Secret (originally $98.00, now $68.00).

When fall turns into winter, you’ll want a longer skirt, like this long tweed skirt. This lovely skirt looks wonderful with a variety of blouses and sweaters.  This was made of wool/polyester/viscose/spandex to create a luxurious mouline tweed. The skirt is 37 inches in length and features elegant pleats.

City Stretch Pencil Skirt from New York & Company (originally $29.95, now $17.97).
Pencil skirts are a classic and one of the most ideal types of skirts to wear to work. With a wide waistband, back zip closure, center and waistline slits, this stretchy pencil skirt will be among the most comfortable you'll ever wear. All the style, minus the restriction - what a fabulous find!

What is your favorite fall skirt style?

Outerwear Deals You Will Love
By Anna Peel    Thursday, September 17, 2009, 05:50 AM    Category:   Deal Gossip

Coats are often looked at as an investment piece simply because they are usually more expensive and were made with stronger materials to keep you from the elements of the weather and climate. But just because they are an investment doesn’t mean they require an investment - there are ways to save on a new coat or jacket, even if you need two or three new (one coat for work, one for weekend and one for sports/gym). Check out some of the most stylish (and affordable) coats below to find a look you will love.

Pea coats are such a classic style - you can wear the pea coat with anything and everything you’ve got. The 3/4 Sleeve Swing Pea Coat is now on sale at Calvin Klein for just $74.00 (it originally sold for $148.00). This cotton coat has a fitted design, cropped hem, 3/4-length  sleeves, buckle details and a wide notched collar, making this a more trendy version of the classic.

Here is the perfect coat for those who are seeking something more weather resistant, which is ideal for those living in rainy climates. The Free Country Hooded Soft-Shell Jacket at Kohl’s was $80.00 but is now just $55.99. This fabulous coat features three pockets, a detachable hood, drawstring hem, stand-up collar and adjustable Velcro cuffs for convenience.

It's not yet fall but it would be a wise idea to find a light jacket for the chilly weather of autumn. This comfy  Marmot Furnace Fleece Jacket is $39.93 (originally $85.00) at REI was made with Polartec Classic 200 midweight fleece, which pills less than other types of fleece. This jacket features a front zipper and two hand-warmer pockets with zippers. This fleece coat is stylish yet comfortable enough for sports like jogging or skiing.

Leather is lovely, but faux-leather is so much more affordable than the real thing. This Big Chill Stitched Faux Leather Scuba Coat was $100 but was recently reduced 50% off, so now it's just $49.99 at Carson Pirie Scott. This fashionable mock-neck coat features detailing like zippered long sleeve hems, zippered front, back belt detail and welt-pockets. This jacket is a feminine version of  motorcycle jacket with its fitted style and princess seams.

Ok, ok, so these last two items aren’t coats but these scarves were too cute not to mention, plus they'll keep  you feeling warm and stylish throughout the winter. This Ed Hardy Skull and Roses Jersey Scarf is just $39.99 at Macy’s (originally $95.00). Use this scarf to dress up any simple or classic coat. Another deal is this Xhilaration Crinkled Plaid Buffalo Wrap which was $14.99 at Target, but is now just $5.24.

Five Denim Deals
By Anna Peel    Monday, September 14, 2009, 05:30 AM    Category:   Deal Gossip

If there is one item you can never own too many of, jeans would be at the top of most fashion lists. You can wear jeans all four seasons, both day and night, in styles that are casual, dressy or work-appropriate and you probably cannot find a top or blouse that doesn’t go with a pair of jeans. In other words, denim is one of the most versatile clothing pieces out there. Another great thing about denim is that there really is something for everyone - jeans come in a variety of styles, including our favorites: skinny and boot cut. Looking for that perfect pair of jeans? Here are a few fabulous denim deals that are going on right now.

1. Real Straight Cropped Jeans at Gap (originally $64.50, now $39.99)
Many wondered if the cropped/capri look was here to stay but if you haven't invested in a pair of cropped leg jeans, you're missing out on a figure-flattering style that's both trendy and fun. These premium stretch charcoal gray jeans feature a low rise, five-pocket styling, button closure and zip fly. Transition these jeans to fall with ankle or knee-high boots.

2. Patch Pocket Jeans at Victoria’s Secret (originally $69.50, now $19.99)
Finding quality denim for under $20 is rare so that made finding these Patch Pocket Jeans at Victoria’s Secret for $19.99 a much of  a sweeter deal. These mid-rise jeans have feature wide legs, two-button front closure zipper, and two back patch pockets.  These cotton sateen jeans resemble trousers so if your work dress code allows denim in the office, these are the perfect pair to wear.

3. Apt. 9 Pintuck Flared Jeans at Kohl’s (originally $48.00, now $27.99)
Like jeans, vintage style is always in so it makes sense that vintage style jeans are a must  to have. These jeans were made with a cotton/spandex blend and  feature a mid-rise fit, flared legs, a pintuck seam and pork-chop pockets. This is the ideal pair to wear with any bohemian blouse.

4. Bootcut Jeans in Washed Indigo at Calvin Klein (originally $80.50, now $39.99)
If you must have only one pair of jeans, make sure it’s a dark wash denim like these Calvin Klein jeans. These indigo-colored bootcut jeans feature key trends like five-pocket styling and contrast stitching. The dark wash creates a slimming effect and these jeans have an overall clean, polished look. They also have stretch for total comfort of movement - a very important selling point since jeans are all about comfort.

5. Denim Mini-Skirt at Gap (originally $54.50, now $19.99)
I've included a denim skirt since they're almost as versatile as jean pants. This denim mini is a fall wardrobe staple as it can be worn with leggings underneath.  This denim mini-skirt was made with 100% cotton and features a casual light wash, self-tie belt, front slant pockets and back patch pockets.

With a few fabulous pairs of jeans and a flattering denim skirt, your denim wardrobe should be complete!

Fall's Best Clothes for Work and Weekend
By Anna Peel    Thursday, September 10, 2009, 03:16 AM    Category:   Deal Gossip

Looking put together at all times is practically impossible but at work, it is absolutely crucial. One of the best things about fall fashion is that you’ll find plenty of pants, jackets, sweaters and dresses that work well for both the weekend and the office. This saves you the need to buy completely separate wardrobes, not to mention all the cash those extra clothes would cost. To complete the put together look you're going for, a few key pieces should suffice. Need a little inspiration? Read on.

Add a dash of color. Usually fall wardrobes are all about deep, rich hues like burgundy or brown. This season, it's all about color. Keep your fall look balanced by choosing one bright or bold piece and keep the rest of the look simple by sticking to minimal accessories. A few ideas include this Silk Embroidered Shell from Banana Republic (was $70.00, now $34.99) and the Basic Editions Cable Front Knit Sweater from Kmart (was $19.99, now $10.00). Both of these key pieces will really add some color to your crisp linen suits and skirts. The uncomplicated nature of your other outfit pieces won't weigh down your look and keeps the focus on bold color.

Layer well. Finding the perfect blazer/jacket or vest is key. Check out this Metallic Leather Jacket from Calvin Klein (originally $398.00, its now $119.40). The elbow-length sleeves and subtle metallic coloring make this jacket stand out in a good way. As for a fabulous vest? How about the Attention Piped Suiting Cap Sleeve Vest  at Kmart? Originally $29.99, this cute vest is now $6.00. Wear these pieces over blouses, sweaters or dresses for maximum style effect. Layering is such a fun way to dress up as long as you layer pieces that coordinate well. If you look in the mirror and don’t like what you see, then it's not the right look.

Trendy heels. The same pair you wear with jeans is the same pair you can wear to work. Some fabulous heel deals include the Mossimo Vanecia D’Orsay Pumps (was $29.99, now $10.48) from Target or the Croft & Barrow Anything Heels (was $54.99, now $21.99) at Kohl's. And don’t forget the Kenneth Cole New York Date Nite Pumps - while they're a perfect date night heel, these pumps are still appropriate enough to wear to the office. They're currently on sale for just $59.99 when they were originally $185.00. You can catch this deal at Piperlime!

More Beauty Freebies
By Anna Peel    Friday, September 04, 2009, 05:20 AM    Category:   Deal Gossip

When you hear the words "beauty products" and "freebies" in the same sentence, the first thought that comes to mind is usually: that's too good to be true. But that thought couldn't be further from the truth! With a little savvy searching, you can stock up on lots of fabulous beauty products for free or next to nothing.  Many companies actually promote their newest cosmetics and beauty products through samples so it's wise to go directly to their website to get information on the latest products, particularly if they offer free samples. Make this a regular routine - freebies can appear out of nowhere - and when you see an offer, jump on it immediately because it could be gone in a couple of hours. To get you started, I’ve listed some fabulous beauty freebies and deals that are worth checking out.

Frederic Fekkai is a big name in hair care products and that’s why we’re quite excited about this current freebie from Fekkai’s website. Make any purchase (no minimum requirement) to receive a complimentary two-ounce bottle of Fekkai Advanced Shampoo. This sample will introduce you to healthier, shinier, stronger hair. This formula is said to help repair and prevent years of biological/environmental damage to your hair. Fekkai’s hair care products are often recommended in fashion magazines so you know you’re getting a quality product.

If you love buying new cosmetics on a regular basis but don't always know what to try, stocking up on a variety of samples is a fantastic idea. When you make a purchase on Sephora’s website, you can choose three free samples of your choice, including fragrance and skin care samples. Some choice samples include Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Sin, Versace Eau de Parfum, and Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch.  This is a great way to test out a brand you've been dying to try. In the event you don't like it, you won't have committed to a large, pricier version that you're stuck with. Again, no minimum purchase is required!

Have you tried the Pink line from Victoria’s Secret? If you have not, then this is your chance! They make fabulous pajamas and loungewear that’s uber-comfy. Sign up to receive Pink Nation's email newsletters and you'll get a free cosmetic kit with any Pink purchase online. The travel beauty kit is worth $25. Another bonus, this one for in-store shoppers: make any Pink purchase in stores to receive a free lace-trim thong panty. Take advantage both deals while they last.

Sally Beauty Supply has a good deal for those who want to try a new acne medication before actually paying a lot of money for them. Make any purchase of $20 or more at Sally Beauty Supply online to receive a free Beyond Belief 3-Step Acne Treatment System. This travel-sized kit includes a cleanser, clarifying toner and repair lotion. Each bottle of non-drying formula is one ounce and works for all different types of skin, regardless of age.

If you use hair dryers and styling tools on a regular basis, chances are you’ve accrued damage to your locks. Dove’s newest line of shampoos and conditioners includes both Heat Defense Therapy (prevents damage) and Intense Damage Therapy (repairs damage). Try them for free and see if they work for your hair.

Don't wait to check out any of these wonderful beauty freebies and samples - because they don't come around very often, shoppers are quick to grab'em when they see'em!

Five Fabulous Sweaters for Fall
By Anna Peel    Tuesday, September 01, 2009, 05:10 AM    Category:   Deal Gossip

Sweaters are a fall and winter wardrobe staple. Even though we still have a few weeks to go before the official arrival of autumn, it's already time to show you the best deals of what fall has to offer. In today's blog, I share five fabulous sweaters for any fall wardrobe so you can avoid spending a fortune on brand-new seasonal clothes. Buy one, two or all five - the style choice is up to you!

1. Bouclé feels and looks so luxurious, so that’s why I selected this Bouclé Scoopneck Sweater from Victoria's Secret as number one on my list. This fitted sweater is made of a blend of acrylic, nylon, wool and spandex and is one you'll wear time and time again. It goes great with jeans, corduroys, khakis and this season's long tiered skirt. Best of all, this sweater is a great deal - it's only $14.99, marked down from $48! This sweater comes in a variety of colors, including proper pink heather, night sky heather, wine, red chili and purple multicolor. With such a low price, you can buy one in each color!

2. Why choose between a sweater and a dress when you can have the best of both? Wear a sweater dress like this Mossimo Black Turtleneck Sweater Dress from Target, now just $8.74 from its original $34.99. This jersey knit dress features ribbed knit trim, long sleeves and a turtleneck to keep you warm throughout the fall and winter. You can wear this sweater dress with leggings, tights or even pants if you'd like. This casual dress (which comes in heather gray) also has a polished look, making it a truly versatile piece that works both at the office and on the weekend.

3. No wardrobe is complete without a cardigan sweater. Banana Republic has a fabulous deal on this Long Linen Cardigan that is now just $39.99 from its regular $89. This simple yet chic white sweater has the length of a jacket (it hits about mid-thigh) but is lightweight enough to use as a layering piece. It also features tab detailing on the shoulders and this easy-to-coordinate piece will look fantastic with a wide range of looks this fall and winter.

4. Speaking of cardigans, here’s yet another great cardigan-style sweater. The Merona Ruffle Neck Cardigan is currently $8.74 at Target, having been marked down from its original $24.99 price. This top starts out with a basic design and adds the ultra-feminine touch of ruffles along the neckline. This cotton-blend sweater comes in your choice of colors like black, gray, green and pink.

5. V-neck sweaters flatter everyone so I just have to mention this wonderful bargain from Calvin Klein: this Striped V-Neck Sweater is only $23.40 ( originally $78). This is a super-soft sweater that can be worn with a variety of looks and the gray color gives it a more neutral look that's ideal for cold weather wardrobes. It also features thin stripes and contrasting trim for a more flattering effect.

With so many fabulous sweaters to choose from, it's pretty easy to get excited about fall!
