Yo Prinzel

I've been writing professionally for over ten years. My work has included writing motivational seminar materials, sales brochures, business and marketing plans, stories, how-to articles, newspaper articles and web content. I'm also a series 7 and 66 licensed financial representative and licensed life, health and variable annuity agent. I have enjoyed a successful career in the financial industry for over 9 years as an underwriter, agent, broker, supervisor and marketing director. I have bought and sold options, stocks, bonds, mutual funds, CD’s, life insurance and annuities. I have been a featured speaker at insurance conventions, broker/ dealer conferences and seminars.

I sound really boring when you write it all out like that...

  • Cooking Saves Money but Increases Danger

By Yo Prinzel    Friday, July 03, 2009, 12:05 AM    Category:   Especially for Women

One of the biggest challenges I face with my budget is the purchase of food. The actual purchasing of food is easy--I love food. I purchase a lot of it. The problem begins when I have to take the food I've purchased out of the refrigerator and... cook it . There are days, hours, moments in which I enjoy cooking. Nothing too complex though, I have a three spice limit (and sea salt does not count...
  • Wants Versus Needs: Godzilla and Mothra Got Nothing On You

By Yo Prinzel    Thursday, June 25, 2009, 01:58 AM    Category:   Especially for Women

Recently, I stumbled upon a post which discusses some interesting recent findings by the Pew Research Center. Apparently, Pew found that the number of Americans who consider cable or satellite TV, flat screen TV, air conditioning and microwave ovens to be “necessities” has dropped since 2006. Wow. I can not begin to tell you the mixture of emotions this makes me feel. While I was first...
  • CheapToday Beats Print Media at Announcing Sale

By Yo Prinzel    Friday, June 19, 2009, 09:42 AM    Category:   Especially for Women

You know those sale papers you get in your mailbox every week? In mine they have local grocery store coupons, Steak and Shake or Pizza Hut coupons, Geico flyers and the Big Lots weekly sales flyer. Every week I go through these flyers and try to ferret out any deals that look good to me (and man, hand spun milkshakes always look good). This week I looked at the Big Lots flyer and started making a weird...
  • Women and Money

By Yo Prinzel    Tuesday, June 16, 2009, 12:01 AM    Category:   Especially for Women

This weekend, PBS was having one of those pledge drives that I can’t stand. Oh, I know, they need the money…but I don’t like having to watch them beg for it. I wish they had some kind of button I could press after I make my contribution that makes me able to see the programs instead of the beggars. But PBS does keep its most popular shows for these pledge drives. Instead of 15 hours...
  • CheapToday Free Deals are Making Me Fat...er

By Yo Prinzel    Thursday, June 11, 2009, 12:14 PM    Category:   Especially for Women

I have a bone to pick with our CheapToday free food...I mean, free deals editor Renee LaVoie. She is making me gain weight. This is not helpful, especially during swimsuit season. Now, I was already fighting a losing battle with my waistline anyway so it's not like she ruined a skinny girl, but still, I did once have a waist. Now, thanks to Renee's free Romano's Macaroni Grill appetizer...

  • The Benefits of Being a Pack Rat

By Yo Prinzel    Monday, May 25, 2009, 11:15 PM    Category:   Especially for Women

When I am done with something, I am done with it. I will throw out a perfectly good measuring cup simply because I think I am not going to use it anymore (this example is based on a true story that Hubby just loves to use against me whenever he gets the chance). Even if my throwing out means that I have to re-buy the item in a few months, I simply don’t care. I don’t like clutter, do not...
  • Memorial Day Sale Shopping

By Yo Prinzel    Friday, May 22, 2009, 06:31 AM    Category:   Especially for Women

Sometimes, I really wish I were a more organized person. I know there are always good sales to be had on holiday weekends, but I never save any money or write a list of the things I need and save it for a holiday sale. This weekend, there are about a gajillion Memorial Day sales to enjoy and, because of my shoddy life planning, I won’t enjoy them as much as I could have. Since you are smarter...
